Hobo spider webs are easy to identify, as they are created in a funnel shape. But more alarmingly, they can also cause the flesh in the area to actually die. Males also have two large elongated appendages that look like boxing gloves or fangs, but are actually genitalia. Hobo spiders are brown with several distinct chevron-shaped markings on their abdomens. Hobo spider bites are often confused with those of the brown recluse spider however, the brown recluse does not live in Utah.
